Ego Ideals

Each Enneagram type has an ego ideal or an idealized sense of self: how they want to perceive themselves and also want others to view them. Learn the 9 different ego ideals and what happens when a particular quality does not conform to this ideal.

Defense Mechanisms

The Enneagram system does not put us in a box; it shows us the box we are already in and how to move beyond it. Follow the instructions to learn how the interplay between the type-based fixation (mental pattern) and passion (emotional pattern) combines with the defense mechanism to maintain our ego ideal.
